Assessor – Level 3

New Qualification for Assessing the Quality of Assessment

This qualification is suitable for those staff who are assessing qualifications within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) that use the term “NVQ” in their title.

Dependent upon the Sector Skills Council assessment strategies it is also suitable for those staff who are assessing qualifications within the QCF that do not use the term “NVQ” within their titles but whose purpose is (D1) “Confirm Occupational Competence”.

Assessment:

Level 3 Award in Assessing competence in the Work Environment (9 Credits)

Level3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (9 Credits)

This is suitable for those staff who are assessing non-NVQ or competence based vocational qualifications within the QCF on a “devolved” basis to agreed standards of assessment.

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (15 Credits)

This is suitable for those staff whose role involves the assessment of both occupational competence and vocationally related achievement.

All the above include a knowledge unit (3 credits) which is available as a one unit award for those who would like an understanding of these roles but are not yet in a position to practice:

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 Credits)

This is available as a stand-alone unit and is suitable for those who would like an understanding of the above two roles but are not yet in a position to practice.
